Learning through portraits
Portrait School programmes are led by National Portrait Gallery Learning Facilitators. The suite of learning programmes is cross-curricular in nature but you can choose to emphasise:

  • Visual art
  • Civics and citizenship 
  • English or
  • History

Self-guided programmes are available with an iPad provided for the educator offering guidance and information about the range of portraits on view in the galleries. Programmes are free of charge.

Livestream Learning is available in your very own classroom. Fully interactive sessions with Gallery staff let you explore the National Portrait Gallery Collection in real-time learning programmes aligned with the Australian Curriculum. Workshops, tailored programmes, and programmes for all abilities are also available for booking. Costs apply to some programmes.
